Finally Certified!
Hi, my name is Scott and I’m an hashtagalcoholic and a hashtagdrugaddict.
I earned my hashtagCADC recently and finally got my paper certificate in the mail. While it’s pretty crinkly (recovery is a crinkly experience), I’m finally ready to start being a certified hashtagalcohol and hashtagdrug hashtagcounselor and am offering sessions through @nobilityseeker.
I am ready to start providing hashtagnatureimmersion hashtagsubstanceabuse hashtagrecovery hashtagcoaching. I will have 10 years free from alcohol on 9/20/24 and developed an extensive hashtagpsychoeducation, hashtaglifeskills, and substance abuse curriculum through my nearly three years working in different inpatient/outpatient/high school programs in various roles.

Some things I’ve learned along the way:
- There is no one way to recover. We are unique, and our recovery should recognize that. What worked for me might not work for you. What works for me is hashtagnature, hashtagmeditation, hashtagyoga, hashtagrockclimbing, playing hashtagmusic, hashtagoutdoorexercise, hashtagjournaling, and hashtaggratitude.
- Getting hashtagcleanandsober is hard, but life doesn’t get easier once we stop using substances. Since I stopped, I’ve had a friend commit suicide and lost many others to their addictions. I’ve been in numerous abusive relationships and been homeless multiple times. I’ve been married and divorced and sold a house I loved to move back in with my parents. I’ve also had numerous beautiful experiences I hope to outline in my posts moving forward.
- When I quit, I lost all the things alcohol was to me. My hashtagbestfriend. My hashtaghigherpower. My hashtagmuse. My hashtaghobby. My hashtagcopingskill. My partner. If we think we can give up substances and replace these holes in our hashtagsoul with only one thing, I think we’re kidding ourselves. We need a hashtagholistic approach to recovery to heal each of these areas.
- I’ve found comfort intentionally choosing hashtagmoderation and hashtagdiscipline with things like people, food, and pushing myself. It’s freeing to tell myself no, not now, maybe later, or this is enough.
